Tales on Tap by StorySlam Oakland

Join us at Tigers Taproom for our first monthly Spontaneous Storytelling event hosted by StorySlam Oakland!

Cost: FREE, but there is a one-drink minimum. 21+ only.

What is Spontaneous Storytelling?

It's a unique combination open-mic storytelling night and meeting-people event
It's called "Spontaneous" because we don't know the themes ahead of time!
It's for storytellers and listeners alike (getting on stage is optional)
It's a great place to meet outgoing, fun people in REAL LIFE (not online!)

How it works:
When you enter the bar, get a Game Card and grab a pen. The object of the warmup game is to talk to as many different people as possible, giving you the excuse to talk to anyone and everyone. Meet new people, get your flirt on, come up with story ideas, and loosen up.
The most interesting answers from the Game Cards become part of the show.

After the game, a volunteer will collect the Game Cards. The host will ask the audience for topic ideas, otherwise known as themes. Shout 'em out! We'll write the best ones on the board.

Storytelling & Free Drinks
Next, it's time for telling true, personal stories. You've already met most of the people there, so it's easy! Put your name in the hat for a chance to get on stage. If you get called, you can tell any story on one of the themes. Anything goes -- as long as it's TRUE, about YOU (not your best friend or grandpa), and 5 minutes or less. Telling a story is optional.
You could win a free drink just for telling a story -- and it doesn't even have to be a good story.

Rules: Stories must be true, about YOU, and 5 minutes or less.
You will hear a bell at 5 minutes to tell you to finish your story.
